On the principle of news as a public good, I do wrestle with the tension of there being “public interest” information versus not. How would you suggest it manifests with the metaphor? How did our analog societies work with public (mis)information before we transitioned into a global digital one?

As to designers’ role, if any, I did leave it as an open question; I trust the design thinkers to reframe the problem as they feel equipped to. For posterity, I’ve expanded the story to include more actors than just designers.
